Chitwan Elephant Festival kicks off
The 10th edition of Chitwan Elephant Festival 2013 is being held in the capital city of elephants - Sauraha, Chitwan, from December 26 to 30 on the occasion of New Year 2014.
Regional Hotel Association Nepal, Chitwan is the main organizer of the event. The main aim of organizing the event is to boost tourism industry along with disseminating awareness on the preservation of wildlife.
The five-day event will feature elephant race, elephant calf football and elephant beauty contest, said the Association. “Similarly, the event will have other attractions like oxcart race, horse cart race, canoe race among others.”

NAC resumes flight to Taplejung
The state owned national flag carrier--Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has resumed direct flights from Kathmandu to eastern hilly district Taplejung from December 26, 2013.
The NAC will fly every Thursday from Kathmandu to Suketar of Taplejung. It will also fly from Biratnagar to Suketar on every Sunday.
The flights have been resumed following requests from tourism entrepreneurs and local people.

NATTA AGM on January 9
Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), an umbrella organisation of travel and tour entrepreneurs, is set to hold its 50th Annual General Meeting and the election on January 9, 2014.
NATTA has around 400 travel and tour entrepreneurs associated to it.

IT Fair
In a bid to inform the locals about the latest development on technology, the Kathmandu University (KU) is going to organize an Information Technology (IT) Fair 2013 from December 27 to 29.
The Fair is going to be organized with the objectives of providing information to all interested in the field of IT. Software and hardware exhibition, IT game competition, web designing and display of the three-dimensional movies would be the main feature of the Fair. The locals and students will be benefited from the Fair.Over 15,000 visitors are expected to visit the Fair.
