Life returns to normalcy after the sporadic incidents of May 26Monday, May 27th, 2019

Three minor explosions (using pressure cookers and gas cylinder) took place at different places in Kathmandu on May 26, leaving a total of four people dead and seven others injured. Nepal Tourism Board is acutely disturbed by the incidents and acknowledges the apprehension in the tourism industry regarding the perception by visitors and international community in the wake of the recent news about Nepal.

As per reports, the blasts in Kathmandu were done by a group and is related to local issues, not addressed toward foreigners. Preliminary reports say that some of those who were injured or lost their lives were individuals attempting to set off the explosions. We would like to inform everyone that no tourist has been harmed in the incidents.

As of now, life and businesses have resumed to normalcy after the incidents and tourists are enjoying the city and other parts of country as per their itineraries. All required security measures have been taken to ensure public safety. The Government of Nepal has strongly condemned the tragic incidents and warned of tough action against those responsible. Security has been stepped up in the Kathmandu Valley and all parts of Nepal.

We wish all our current and prospective visitors safe and enjoyable travel in Nepal.
