Tourism gets high priority in govt.'s policies and programs
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav presented the policies and programs of the government at the Legislature-Parliament in New Baneshwor in the capital on July 2. Unveiling the government's policies and programs, President Yadav said the government would adopt pro socialist economic policy by doing away with all remains of feudalistic economic mode.
The government would stress on equitable development and form a commission on those gone disappeared, he added. Stressing on tourism, President Yadav said continuing the campaign of Nepal Tourism Year 2011, Nepal would be developed in the world as a model tourism destination in the next 15 years.
He further said that places of historic, touristic and religious importance, namely Baraha Kshetra, Janakpur, Muktinath, Swargadwari, Khaptad and Dhorpatan would be developed as tourism centers. Construction of an international convention center would be started in the Western Development Region.
He also said that for the balanced development of tourism in all parts of the country, tourism zones would be established gradually. "In each tourism zone, integrated community tourism service centers will be established and tourism infrastructure and human resources development programs will be carried out."
"Timely changes will be made in Tourism and Aviation policies. International relations, access and influence in the aviation sector will be established by developing air services as a dependable, safe, easily available, regular, comfortable and efficient means of transport. In this context, national flag carrier Nepal Airlines will be strengthened," he said.
He stated that in order to make air transport regular and accessible to the people in remote areas of the country including the Karnali zone, necessary airport infrastructure with modern technology would be developed.
“The development and construction works on Gautam Buddha, Pokhara, Janakpur and Surkhet regional international airports and a second international airport in Nijgadh, Bara, will be initiated.”
Global Asia receives cash incentive from Govt. for MICE tourism
Global Asia Tours and Travel ( P) Ltd , Kathmandu received the cash incentive of Rs 500,000 for promoting MICE Tourism . The cash incentive has been given to Global Asia Tours and Travels following the announcement made by the government to provide Rs. 500 thousand cash to organizer holding meeting, seminar, workshop, or interaction program once at a time involving more than 100 foreign passport holders entering Nepal through air - route within 7 days of completion of such programs upon submission of the evidence and relevant documents in the budget of fiscal year 2010/11 to encourage the tour operators to bring more tourists during Nepal Tourism Year 2011. In this connection Global Asia organized Network Partners Meet of Escorts Company at Hotel Soaltee and Hotel Radisson on December 4 and 5. 2010 involving 163 participants.
Lamjung unveils roadmap for tourism development
The Draft Integrated Tourism Development and Management Plan Report of Lumjung have recently been completed which was shared with the stakeholders amidst the sharing workshop program organized on 5 July 2011 at Beshisahar Lumjung.
The team comprised of the NTB and Consultants who were commissioned to prepare the plan paid the visit to Beshisahar and shared the major highlights of the Plan to the stakeholders. The sharing workshop/interaction received feedback and suggestions on the plan which have
been noted to be incorporated in the plan. The program saw the presence of representatives from major political parties, DDC, VDC, NGOs,Lumjung Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Communities and local institutions working on the tourism sector.
The Integrated Tourism Development and Management Plan of Lumjung District is being produced jointly by Nepal Tourism Board and District Development Committee Lumjung in close coperation with Lumjung Chamber of Commerce and Industry.The Web based Geographical Information Sytem ( GIS ) interactive tourist map of Lumjung is also being developed by the NTB along with the Plan.
