The 4th National Tourism Fair kicked off
The 4th National Tourism Fair kicked off in Kathmandu on June 10, 2011. Inaugurating the fair, Secretary at Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi highlighted the importance of promotion of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 (NTY-2011) in the international market for its success. Joshi said infrastructure development is necessary to boost tourism sector. Such a tourism fair would be supportive for linking local rural tourism products to the tourist generating domestic and international markets, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, National Coordinator of NTY-2011 Mr. Yogendra Shakya said NTY-2011 would not be successful only through domestic promotion.Various entrepreneurs and organisations from over 60 districts across the country are exhibiting their products in the three day-long fair.
Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Prachanda Man Shrestha said that the tourism fair would be helpful in commercializing the tourism business.
The NTB is planning to organize tourism fairs in regional level from the next fiscal year, he informed.Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has targeted to draw some 50,000 visitors.
NTB launches tourism promotion campaign targeting Indian summer holiday season
NTB launched Consumer Promotional Campaign in the shopping malls of the major Indian metros and second tier cities targeting the Summer Holiday Season in Indian market.
Tthe campaign was started from 7/8 May and ending on 11/12 June 2011 to boost Indian tourist arrivals to meet the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 (NTY-2011) target of 300,000 Indian tourist arrivals in the months of May and June 2011.
The campaign among Indian Consumers in the malls is being conducted in a total of 17 shopping malls from different Indian metro and second tier cities like - New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmadabad, Jaipur, Pune, Kanpur and Lucknow, said NTB in the press statement.
During the campaign Private Travel Trade Partners have been provided counters for the promotion and direct sales of their Nepal tour packages.
NTB honored with the best tourism promotion award
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) participated in 24th Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA) 2011 held at Seoul from June 2-5, in South Korea.
NTB was honored with the best tourism promotion award at the KOTFA 2011 for its great contribution to the tourism industry development with positive public relation and marketing.
The fair was attended by more than 100,000 travel industry professionals, buyers and specialists and travel consumers. 60 countries participated in the KOTFA having 475 exhibitors representing from tourism industry buyers and travel consumers.
NTB participated along with two travel trade partners - Ecological Treks and Kaze Travels. NTB showcased its cultural and natural products of Nepal.
Lumbini was highlighted during the fair and most of the queries revealed around Buddhism and Lumbini. Information on mountaineering and trekking in Nepal were also disseminated. Mr.Sunil Sharma, Manager, NTB, made a presentation amidst the travel trade people and regaled them by showcasing Nepal's world class heritage and tourism products.
Inter School Quiz Contest -2011
To preach the knowledge about the tourism potential of Nepal among students, National Education Promotion Society and Everest Summiteers Association organized Inter School Valley Wide Quiz Contest – 2011 on the occasion of 4th International Sagarmatha( Everest ) Day on 4th June 2011 at Babu Chhiri Sherpa Statue and museum, Tilganga, Kathmandu.
